Day-by-Day Itinerary
Arrive Delhi — Old & New Delhi sightseeing → drive to Agra
Your guide meets you at Delhi airport, hotel or station and you set out to explore the capital in a private air-conditioned car. In Old Delhi you visit the Jama Masjid — India’s largest mosque, completed by Shah Jahan in the 1650s — and ride a cycle-rickshaw through the lanes of Chandni Chowk, the 17th-century bazaar laid out by his daughter Jahanara, passing the red-sandstone ramparts of the Red Fort, the Mughals’ fortified seat of power. In New Delhi you see the soaring Qutub Minar, a 73-metre victory tower begun in 1193; the lotus-shaped Bahá’í House of Worship (Lotus Temple); and the golden-domed Gurudwara Bangla Sahib Sikh shrine, driving along the imperial boulevard past India Gate, Parliament and the President’s House. In the afternoon you drive to Agra on the Yamuna Expressway (about 3.5–4 hours) and check in.
- Jama Masjid & cycle-rickshaw in Chandni Chowk

Sunrise Taj Mahal, Agra Fort & Abhaneri step-well → Jaipur
Begin at dawn with the Taj Mahal at sunrise — the white-marble mausoleum Shah Jahan raised between 1632 and 1653 for his wife Mumtaz Mahal, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World — at its most serene before the crowds arrive. After breakfast, tour Agra Fort, the red-sandstone royal citadel from which the Mughals ruled much of India and where Shah Jahan spent his final years, reputedly gazing across the river at the Taj. Then drive towards Jaipur (about 5 hours), stopping en route at the Abhaneri step-well (Chand Baori) — one of India’s deepest and oldest step-wells, its 3,500 perfectly symmetrical steps descending 13 storeys. Arrive in Jaipur by evening.
- Sunrise at the Taj Mahal
- Guided tour of Agra Fort
- Abhaneri step-well (Chand Baori) en route
- Arrive Jaipur
Jaipur — full day of sightseeing
Spend a full day in the Pink City, so called after it was washed terracotta-pink to welcome the Prince of Wales in 1876. Ascend to the hilltop Amber Fort, the Rajput stronghold of the Kachhwaha kings, with its palaces, gardens and mirrored Sheesh Mahal; pause to photograph the lake-set Jal Mahal, the ‘Water Palace’ floating on Man Sagar Lake; admire the Hawa Mahal, the 1799 ‘Palace of Winds’ whose 953 lattice windows let royal women watch the street unseen; and explore the City Palace, still home to Jaipur’s royal family, and the Jantar Mantar, an 18th-century royal observatory and UNESCO site with the world’s largest stone sundial. Overnight in Jaipur.
